Referring Your Clients for Hypnosis & Coaching

Hypnosis you can trust

Clients in therapy are often drawn to hypnosis when they feel stuck. Perhaps they are caught up in intellectualizing and change isn’t happening (or isn’t happening fast enough). Hypnosis is often sold as a quick fix and a way out of doing the work. Problems gone. Behaviors reprogrammed. Or worse: its irresponsible use to recover lost “memories” of trauma. I am not one of those providers. I am here to:

– provide relief in the form of a deeper kind of meditation for busy minds
– teach a different creative modality for accessing feelings
– provide an experiential safe space or alternative path when real world changes or traditional goal setting seems inaccessible
– respite from masking and neurotypical speech patterns
– brainstorm ideas in a way that bypasses conscious reasoning
– hold a queer and alternative lifestyle normative environment
– and most importantly, integrate the valuable work they have done with you and will continue to do in the future.

Although I was a therapist in the UK, I do not claim to be one in the US. I make it clear to clients that I am a hypnotherapist and coach. I strictly do not provide therapy. See here for info on the scope for hypnosis in NY State. This puts me in a unique position to know what those boundaries are and not overstep. I will support your clients through hypnosis (I devoted 2 years of postgraduate study to hypnotherapy exclusively) and holistic approaches (somatic experiencing, medical qigong, RAIN meditation) safely, while ensuring that they remain in therapy or return to therapy as needed with a licensed provider.
Sometimes therapists also refer graduating clients to me who are apprehensive about leaving their long time therapeutic relationship and need short term transition support.
I can provide references from Clinical Psychologists, Therapists and In-Patient Recovery Coordinators who have referred clients to me.
I am also more than happy to do complimentary sample sessions with you or your team for you to get a feel for how I work. How I approach sessions with every client is so different that it’s difficult to outline exactly how our time together would look but I can definitely share my thoughts on how I would anticipate approaching things. I also offer ad-hoc brief supervision sessions for therapists who have some experience in hypnosis and wish to use it with their existing clients. More details here.

Communication & Collaboration

I intentionally carry a small caseload so with client consent I am always available to talk to therapists about our work and collaborate with a variety of providers. I have completed HIPPA certification training for my own peace of mind and although I am not required to comply in the same way as you, I will diligently follow any protocols you require regarding release. I believe it takes a village and we all have specialisms that we excel in. Due to. the nature of my work, I am in a privileged position of having minimal administrative burdens such as insurance or reporting requirements: this frees up time out of session for me to research and connect your clients to services or social groups or other lifestyle things that you may not have the time or resources to do. As the majority of my clients share similar needs, I have cultivated great networks, online and in person resources that that makes it easier.
